On ChatNet
We now *only* provide bots to channels that have K9 in them, and only for the 500's of those channels..
This means:
If you already have any bots in your
channel, DO NOT waste your time applying,
Read and understand this, this is your only warning.
you DO NOT need ours and we
will reject your channel. If you join other bots after
you have ours, we will remove ours when we find out, period.
Exceptions will be made for Trivia Bots
If you are 500 you must:
After we receive documentation, we will review usually within 1-2 days and you will receive email telling if approved or rejected. Please *DO NOT* ask until you get email saying approved or rejected.
How Can I be a Helper?:
I do appreciate offers
for helper or co-admins for our service.
We have many people asking, but right now we are not looking for
any new helpers. If we do, it will be posted here on how to
apply. Please do not ask until you see this notice is gone :)
Some may think that this is pretty scrict, and yes, it is, but I
have no choice. I can't afford to have mis-use of the bot
resources cause them to get akilled, resulting in support outage
for user channels. Plus, I am the one paying the bills :) For
those who keep asking and asking and asking, you will likely get
a perm ban from #botservices and never be considered. :) (HINT!
It's annoying! )
Even though the shell accounts on multiple providers we have cost money, this service is provided free-of-charge. Why? Because users and IRC networks need temporary bot-service providers to assist in channel management functions, we just want to help maintain valid channels, your happiness is ours :)
o NO bots are placed without following application process, period, so DO NOT ask.
o IF YOU ARE NOT CHANNEL OWNER/500, DON'T ASK OR YOU MAY BE PERM BANNED from #botservices !
o Your 500 status will be checked and verified.
o After applying, you MUST wait at until your application is processed to get any answer. This usually takes 1-2 days, but can be longer, sometimes we have no bots available, so please do not ask until you get answer in email. To look at your application, enter #botservices and type !check , it will tell you how to look, but please do not ask!
o bots will not be placed in an operater-less channel. We WILL NOT help you get OPs!
o bots will not be provided in channels where there are other bots. Our bots work alone, if you have others already, you do not need ours :) If you join other bots to your channel after we place ours, we will remove ours, period. We save our bots for channels that need bots and do not already have them. Exceptions will be made for Trivia bots (you must set flood settings ! See help page)
o bots will not be provided in any channel with normal modes including +i +s +k or +m . It is understandable these modes are sometimes needed for *temporary* channel control purposes, but channels left in these modes will be considered for removal of channel bots.
o channel founders/owners are responsible for any and all activity that occurs in their channel. We are not responsible in any way, shape or form.
o we reserve the right to place in effect global bans that will effect every channel one of our bots exist on. Such global bans are not placed without cause, and will only be removed when we are ready.
o Channel takeovers etc - We can not assist in regaining channel control, or getting the bots re-oped. Channel owners can persue this in a channel such as #zt or #irchelp IRCops will not help a bot service, and will probably not help if bot service bots are in channel, soooo we added access to a command for channel managers to part the #botservices bots *before* going to ask for help from IRCop. Login, then in your channel type botnick part #channel then after you regain OP, you can re-join them with go command. Always part bots *BEFORE* you go to ask for help, and do not be in #botservices when you do or you will probably not get help. Only channel owner can part/re-join bots.
o bots will be removed
from any channel if any of the following occurs:
-
deoping, kicking or banning any of our bots.
- loss of channel control. ie
takeover etc.
- kicking or banning any
BotServices Service members. Such members will have OP status in
#BotServices, as noted in a /whois nick. ie. Mikey is
lroy@216.41.23.167 * Ack !! Mikey on @#botservices
- failure to cooperate with a
BotServices Service member who is attempting to solve a problem
in the channel with a bot.
- any abuse of any bot, ie.
usage of a bot for mass inviting or advertising.
- Any OP or channel member mass inviting or
spamming for the channel
We reserve the right to define abuse in any manner we see fit and
we do Not have time to play games. If a channel or its OPs are
causing problems like above, we will purge the bots and let
another channel have them, make sure you understand this, and all
your OPs understand also or you will lose your bots.
If approached by an IRCop, the bots will be removed at once from
the channel in question, no questions asked.
o we reserve the right to use the bots access to protect the status of the bot, removing bans agaisnt the bot or #botServices members, and to ban users that are abusing the bot. Make sure you understand this. This may involve a #botservices member obtaining OP status to protect the bots channel status.
o we reserve the right to release information about the owner of a specific channel if approached by ChatNet officials (Server Admins and IRCops)
o to have a bot(s) removed from a channel, the owner can request via email and we will remove them as soon as possible, or jsut deop and part them and we will purge them, but best to let us know ;)
o we do not provide any custom or entertainment scripts (ie BarBot) on our bots, Please do not request such scripts, they will not be provided for any reason.
o nicknames on bots can
not be changed at user request. (The nicks may be changed from
time to time by us at our discression)
